Ports of the country, affected by a 24-hour strike

He Single Port Union and Related Branches (Supra) began a 24-hour strike, until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, in protest against the award of the Cuenca del Plata Terminal (TCP), in Montevideoto the Belgian company Katoen Natie.

The workers grouped in the Supra had already cut the income to the terminals of the Port of Montevideo last week in rejection of the award of the Cuenca del Plata Terminal to Katoen Natie.

Justice investigates the award of TCP

This week the prosecutor’s office resolved to unarchive the Katoen Natie case for alleged irregularities in the signing of the agreement between the government and the company by the TCP. Three months ago, the case was reopened at the request of the Broad Front (FA).

The extension of the Cuenca del Plata Terminal concession to the Belgian company until 2081 is also criticized for Open Town Hall (CA)partner of the executive of Luis Lacalle Pou.
