Russian forces intercept two British Storm Shadow missiles: Ministry of Defense

MOSCOW, May 27 (Reuters) – Russian forces have intercepted two long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles supplied to Ukraine by Britain, Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

The ministry also said it had intercepted shorter-range US-made HIMARS and HARM missiles and shot down 12 drones in the past 24 hours.

Russia did not say where the interceptions had occurred, but made the announcement in its daily Defense Ministry briefing, where it provides updates on what it calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

Reuters could not immediately verify the battlefield reports.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. kyiv officials have said before that Western-supplied weapons would be used exclusively against Russian forces inside Ukraine.

On Saturday, drone strikes were reported on Russian territory, hitting oil pipeline facilities. Russia has tended to blame these attacks on kyiv, although Ukraine has not publicly acknowledged launching them against targets in Russia.
