The strong explosion occurred around 4:00 p.m. (local time) in the Zangtun Township Police Headquarterslocated on the northeast coast, when agents of the force were taking samples and identifying certain fireworks, recording the series of suspected fireworks “that could be the object of illegal trade”as explained by local authorities.


According to preliminary investigations, “up to eleven people could have been present at the time of the explosion, inside or around the damaged warehouse,” reported the Europa Press news agency.
So far they could be rescued nine, four of them dead and the other five woundedpointed out the Xinhua service, the official news agency of the government of the People’s Republic of China, the most populous nation in East Asia.
For their part, the same local authorities sent their rescue teams to the place of the deflagration to search for the two missing persons, at the same time that they began an immediate investigation, to elucidate the causes of the event.
The use of fireworks and firecrackers on the occasion of different festivities and commemorations are quite popular in the Asian country in all kinds of celebrations, although state controls try to limit their use in later years, to reduce contamination and safety risks.
