A 42-year-old German citizen hiked up the Kleiner Sonnstein in Traunkirchen with her husband and son on Monday. In the summit area, the woman climbed over a rock with her left foot at around 2:15 p.m. and fell. She sustained a painful ankle injury. Due to the severe pain, the 42-year-old immediately became unconscious and her companions immediately made an emergency call. A mountain rescuer who happened to be present immediately provided first aid. Meanwhile, the mountain rescue service in Traunkirchen, the emergency doctor helicopter “Christophorus 10” and the Gmunden alpine police were alerted. The injured were rescued by the emergency helicopter using a rope and flown to the Salzkammergut Clinic in Gmunden.
