After the crime, the burglars apparently drove their car across the border to Bavaria, where they were checked shortly after entering the country at around 1 a.m. and fled. Initially, a helicopter was used to search for the men, but the search was unsuccessful until Tuesday morning, according to the German police. Apparently, the suspects were on foot because motorists were warned in the morning hours not to pick up hitchhikers.
