The branch of a tree that protruded onto the hiking trail was fatal to a 16-year-old from Wels on Tuesday. The young woman hit her head on the descent from the 1575 meter high Erlakogel near Ebensee so unhappily that she suffered a profusely bleeding wound.
The Ebensee mountain rescue service was alerted, and the “Martin 3” rescue helicopter finally brought the 16-year-old to the Salzkammergut Clinic in Bad Ischl.
The mountain rescue service was also alerted in Hinterstoder on sunny Tuesday. A hiker suffered a foot injury at the Edtbauernalm on the Hutterer Boden (1365 meters).
