Italy aims for social inclusion
“Finally, the word race will disappear from all acts and documents of the public sector. We have eliminated an anti-scientific concept, wiping out serious phrases about races, lineages, ethnic groups,” Scotto celebrated.
This word appears in article 3 of the Italian Constitution, which says that “all citizens are equal before the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinions, personal and social conditions”.
“Although it has not been used for a long time and is mentioned in the Constitution, It is a concept that is not in keeping with our time. and it may seem discriminatory for some”, reinforced the deputy Paolo Emilio Russo, of the conservative Forza Italia (FI) party.
