Marlboro cigarettes are on the verge of extinction

As reported by several Austrian daily newspapers with reference to a report by “Welt”, the US tobacco company Philip Morris is planning to withdraw from the traditional cigarette smoking business. “We will get out of the cigarette business and only offer reduced-risk products,” said Austria-Germany boss Markus Essing at an event in Berlin.

According to the corresponding newspaper reports on Wednesday, only tobacco heaters and electronic cigarettes for liquids that contain fewer harmful substances than conventional tobacco products will be offered in the future. A specific timetable was not given. According to Essing, however, the exit could take place in ten to 15 years.
