Because she must have dozed off briefly at the wheel, a 50-year-old woman from the Innviertel lost control of her car on Wednesday afternoon while driving on the L-514 from Lambrecht in the direction of Andorf. At the level of the village of Hof, she entered the oncoming lane and touched a tank truck loaded with 11,000 liters of diesel.
Both vehicles left the road: the tanker came to a standstill in a ditch, the car in a meadow. While the driver of the truck survived the incident unharmed, the 50-year-old was injured so badly that she had to be taken to Schärding hospital.
The tanker had to be recovered with a crane truck. The L-514 was closed to all traffic for the duration of the operation from 2:05 p.m. to 5:10 p.m. A local diversion was set up, the police said on Wednesday evening. The Andorf volunteer fire brigade was also on duty.
