Fraud cases on the Internet have steadily increased in recent years. The new Salzburg Social Provincial Councilor Christian Pewny (FPÖ), who is also responsible for consumer protection in addition to food supervision, regional development and apprenticeship promotion, has already been the victim of internet fraud.
According to the “Kurier”, Pewny is said to have transferred around 600,000 euros to fraudsters on the Internet in 2020. According to the report, the crime was a “love scam”. Scammers pretend to be in a romantic relationship with the victim and demand more and more money transfers.
According to the report, the previous mayor of Radstadt and ex-national councilor did not want to talk about the details of the scam. He also pointed out that he was harmed as a private individual.
