According to an African proverb, it takes a whole village to raise a child. A perspective that many single mothers in Austria can only dream of. You have to juggle children, job and household. “Doctor appointments, visits to the authorities or counseling appointments always present single mothers with the difficulty of not having a suitable person in the area who can look after the children for a short time or pick up the little ones from kindergarten if the mother has to work longer,” says Lydia Linortner, who Manager of the women’s counseling center in Bad Ischl.
That’s why the women’s advice center and the parent-child center in Bad Ischl are now organizing a regular women’s meeting. Invited are not just single parents, but women of all ages and in every life situation, from teenagers to grandmothers, women who can imagine spending part of their free time with a single mother and supporting them if necessary. The platform is also intended to bring single parents together and give them the opportunity to help each other out.
The first women’s meeting will take place on June 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the parent-child center (Lidaustraße 28). Children can be brought along, there is organized care.
