This year’s Austrian school championships in weightlifting took place in the Rum sports center in Tyrol. The young Innviertler cleared away powerfully. In the U9 age group Julia Windhager (Union Lochen) won the title, her twin sister Anna finished second. Patrick Maderegger (Union Lochen) won two bronze medals (weightlifting and all-around) in the boys’ U11 class. In the girls’ U13 age group, Doris Schober (Union Lochen) won two silver medals, and her teammate Barbara Voggenberger two bronze medals.
With the International Juniors Battle on Friday, June 9th and Saturday, June 10th, one of the largest junior tournaments in Europe will take place in Lochen. 113 participants from five nations have registered, including the reigning state champion in the general class in the 45-kilogram class: 14-year-old Juliane Maderegger from Union Lochen. The Austrian U17 champions Anna Maria Voggenberger and Helena Maderegger, the U20 runner-up Jessica Stauceanu as well as Doris Schober, Barbara Voggenberger and Patrick Maderegger also start for Lochen.
