The discovery arose from a routine work of the National Institution of Human Rights in the military premises.
This morning a skull with lime and other bone remains were found in the Parachute Infantry Battalion No. 14 In the town of Toledo (cannelloni). The discovery was produced from a routine work of the National Institution of Human Rights (inddhh).
It is presumed that the remains found belong to the same body. The Prosecutor for Crimes Against Humanity, Ricardo Perciballeexplained to Underlined that this search is not associated with any of the causes in particular, but is framed in the permanent work carried out by the Inddhh.
In addition to Perciballe, the minister of Defending, javier garciawho reported the situation to the president Luis Lacalle Pou and members of the group Mothers and Relatives of Uruguayans Detained Disappeared.
After Perciballe ordered the pass to a coroner and the survey of Scientific policefrom the Inddhh they indicated that being able to determine if there are more human remains in the place will require at least 2 more days, and a much longer time to know the identity of the remains.
There was previously no specific complaint in this protected area where the discovery was made. However, in March of this year the authorities had entered this battalion after receiving information that a person who disappeared during the last military dictatorship could be found buried.
Relatives of the disappeared want a team of anthropologists to work in Battalion No. 14
The director of the Inddhh, wilder tyler, was the one who contacted the Relatives of the Disappeared Detainees to confirm the discovery. The members of the collective are now waiting for a team of anthropologists to work in the area in order to have visual access to the site.
It was in Battalion No. 14 itself where the bodies of Julio Castro (teacher) and Richard White in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
