Alois S. is desperate after numerous tragic personal events and because he is denied a pension despite his serious illness. The OÖ Nachrichten reported. A number of readers have spontaneously expressed their willingness to donate.
The financial situation of Alois S. is one side – the Innviertler has to get by with around 1000 euros a month. The psychological and health situation of the man is the other side – Alois S. now wants to sue the denied pension in court.
PVA: work reasonable
“The medical examinations for this are ongoing,” said Alois S. on Monday in the OÖN interview. He had also received many positive and benevolent responses to the report. Readers who want to support Alois S. have also contacted the OÖN.
The Pensionsversicherungsanstalt (PVA) has responded to OÖN’s renewed inquiry and justifies its decision not to grant the Innviertler pension as follows: “Mr S. originally stated his condition after a bladder carcinoma as the reason for the application. In this context, the applicant was summoned for an assessment. In the course of further correspondence, Mr S. also indicated mental impairments, whereupon further assessments were commissioned. On the one hand, the long duration of the procedure is due to the fact that not all complaints were specified when the application was submitted, so that several assessments could only be commissioned at a later point in time.” Finding a date was not easy either.
In summary, the PVA found that “Mr. S. can still be expected to do light work part-time, so there is not a sufficient calculation restriction for the existence of disability within the meaning of the statutory provisions.” Alois S. can be referred to the general labor market. It says: “In the absence of occupational protection, a person is considered disabled if, due to their physical or mental condition, they are no longer able to earn at least half of the wages through an activity that is still valued on the labor market, one physically and sane person to achieve through such activity.” The outcome of the lawsuit is awaited.
“Praise for My Courage”
For Alois S., it means a lot that numerous acquaintances and friends agreed and congratulated him on this step of going public. “Many have praised me for my courage. I was particularly pleased that a former work colleague visited me after the report,” says the Innviertler. Help has now also been offered to him by the former mayor of his home municipality.
