The man marched into the building with a canister and lighter and spilled gasoline on the floor. He then took a cloth out of the petrol can and said he wanted to set it on fire, police confirmed to media reports. The 36-year-old wanted his insurance case to be “processed with priority”.
An employee fled outside and called the police, said Deputy District Police Commander Wolfgang Weninger. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old was constantly trying to get the bank employees to process his insurance claim. Four police officers eventually climbed into the bank through a window and brought the situation under control. The 36-year-old was finally arrested without resistance, no one was injured.
According to Weninger, the local was not officially known to date. The situation was different at the bank: “The insured event and the 36-year-old were already known there,” said the executive.
