It was around three in the morning when a woman from Linz was woken up by the smell of smoke and crackling. Fire broke out in the 22-year-old’s kitchen, and the young woman escaped to the balcony.
The Linz professional fire brigade brought them to safety using a turntable ladder. The woman from Linz was taken to a hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, the police said on Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters quickly got the flames under control and prevented the fire from spreading to other homes. The fire may have started from the stove, the investigation revealed. Unfortunately, any help came too late for the resident’s cat: the animal could only be found dead.
