The train-tram, which had been described as “financially possible” by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, José Falero, contemplates an investment close to 500 million dollars and was authorized by the Executive. The concretion of the “Metropolitan Mobility” project will be in charge of the “3 Eses” consortium, made up of the Uruguayan companies Saceem and Stiler SA, together with the Spanish company Stadler Rail Valencia SAU, which must now carry out the feasibility studies, according to Subrayado.


The Executive listed among the keys to this project reducing carbon dioxide emissions, but also the reduction in accidents, improvement in road safety and speeding up travel times, since it will increase speed by 50% on the way, reducing congestion.
At the same time, once the work is finished, which would have an extension of 35 kilometers and would go through the avenues 18 de Julio, Italia and Giannattasio, it is estimated that it will reduce dependence on oil and generate savings in state transportation subsidies and personnel costs.
Orsi confessed that he is “seduced” by the project
