The iOS 17 release schedule is as follows: June 5, 2023 – Presentation at the WWDC developer conference, release of the first beta version for developers; July 2023 – Public beta version; Autumn 2023 – Delivery of the final version
- Phone app update: The so-called are new Contact posters that allow users to change the appearance of incoming calls. - AirDrop: Apple also wants to make it easier to exchange phone numbers. Your own number can now be transferred with NameDrop. This works like sending files (also with an Apple Watch). A new feature of AirDrop: The transfer is now continued via the Internet or iCloud if you are out of range for a Bluetooth or WLAN transfer. A feature that will not be available with iOS 17, but only later in the year.
- Standby: This new feature makes certain information appear larger while you put your phone aside to charge. This information is displayed in the form of widgets (e.g. calendar, weather, photos, home control or live scores) and should also be legible from a distance.
- A few more things: The keyboard gets a new language model for better ones autocorrectWord suggestions now appear inline as you type, siri should now also feel addressed when you simply say “Siri” (instead of “Hey Siri”) and the new one diary-App uses machine learning to make personalized suggestions for users’ diary entries.
