“Around 0845 (0545 GMT) there was an explosion due to a chemical reaction in the dynamite preparation department. Unfortunately, five employees were killed,” Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin said in a statement to the press.
According to the AFP news agency, the dynamite manufacturing workshop collapsed after the explosion, and the bodies of the victims could be removed.
The factory is located in the Elmadag district, 40 kilometers east of downtown Ankara, and reports to the Turkish Defense Ministry.
