The situation was “not quite as dramatic as feared in advance,” said Harald Lasser from the ÖAMTC. In Bavaria, the Pentecost holidays end this weekend, the start two weeks ago caused a 26-kilometer backlog in Salzburg. There were traffic jams and convoys this Saturday – as usual – on the Brenner, Inntal and Tauern autobahns.
Traffic on the Brenner autobahn (A13) between Matrei-Steinach and the Innsbruck-Wilten junction was slow, and subsequently also on the Inntal autobahn (A12). “Like every weekend”, according to Lasser, the Fernpassstraße (B179) was also affected by delays throughout, especially between Nassereith and the Füssen border tunnel there were traffic jams in both directions.
On the Tauernautobahn (A10) between Rennweg and the Katschberg tunnel, there was a great loss of time and block handling around noon. On the Karawankenautobahn (A11), the time lost in front of the Karawanken Tunnel when entering Austria was around one hour. Around 40 minutes had to be waited at the Walserberg border crossing on the west autobahn (A1).
