The thief was caught in the act by supermarket staff on Monday a week ago after noticing many liquor items were missing from the shelves. The police then investigated the 43-year-old’s apartment in Asten – and found 65 bottles of spirits, twelve bars of chocolate and 15 shower gels with a total value of more than 2,000 euros in the basement. The Romanian had stolen the goods from supermarkets in Enns and Linz since January 2023.
During the interrogation, he explained that he wanted to give it to his Romanian relatives the next time they went home. The man is reported, the stolen goods were returned to the affected branches.
