Despite the viralized celebration at the White House, different North American areas oppose the recognition of rights: in Florida, for example, Governor Ron DeSantis signed initiatives that prohibit the topics of sexual orientation and gender in the classroomsgender reaffirmation and drag performances for minors.

Some 525 bills were introduced, virtually all by Republicans, including more than 220 that affect transgender people, HRC said.
The number of these bills introduced has risen steadily in recent years, up from 115 in 2015, HRC said.
