Now some people are wondering why this money has still not been publicly distributed. Wels marketing boss Peter Jungreithmair says that a joint photo session has not yet been agreed: “There will be one at some point.” If all costs are counted, Upper Austria’s largest charity ball is actually in the red. “We don’t just pay rent in the Stadttheater, we pay for everything the staff do there,” says Jungreithmair. The fact that these costs are booked as expenses is nothing new. If this were different, the city would have to subsidize the ball. Because one thing is largely undisputed: “As a city, you need a social event – also for this clientele.” Despite all the imponderables, the premiere in the converted city theater was a success. However, there should be adjustments in 2024: “The economic tent in Rainerstrasse will be reduced so that passage is easier,” announces Jungreithmair.
