OSE union protests against the Arazatí Project

The state board of directors decided to close the doors of the central building and there were incidents between the workers and the police.

The Federation of OSE Officials (ffose) mobilized to the company’s headquarters on Carlos Roxlo street in protest against the receipt of offers for the public tender of the Arazati Project. From FFOSE they understand that the bidding process should be suspended for being a “ lousy business“for the state, and also”be a work for 3 years from now“, that does not solve the current problem of the water crisiswhere “salt water” is being sent to the people.

The FFOSE workers (accompanied by workers from other unions) were not received by the OSE board of directors, who they decided to close the doors of the building. The tension outside the headquarters escalated to the point where there were incidents between the demonstrators and the policewhich urged them to withdraw.

In dialogue with Underlined, the representative of FFOSE, Frederick Kreimermanindicated that the Arazatí project is a bad deal, since “the private spends 200 million dollarsand then the state “ends up paying him, for 20 years, 800 million dollars“. “Our proposal is that they suspend and study serious solutions, unfortunately we have not been heard,” he said.

“We were unable to dialogue with any authority early on,” Kreimerman remarked, since “the board chose to lock the doors of the building“.

Incidents at one of the side doors of the OSE building

The incidents with the police occurred at one of the side doors of the OSE buildingafter the protesters sought to force entry to the facilities to speak directly with the president of the state company, Raul Monteroas they had been prevented in the first instance.

Initially, the protests had started inside the building itself, but then they continued on the esplanade of the headquarters, where the board of directors ordered the doors to be closed and re-entry was prevented. After the incidents, the protest turned peaceful and the policemen withdrew.
