The National Council officially ended the corona pandemic on Wednesday: From June 30, Covid-19 will be treated like all other non-notifiable infectious diseases. This means that there is no longer a reporting obligation.
Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) pointed out in his speech that, contrary to the original government plans, testing of people who show symptoms will remain free of charge. The vaccinations against Covid-19 are also still free. The Covid transfer law was only passed with the votes of the ÖVP and the Greens. The SPÖ had also demanded free tests for vulnerable groups, and criticism of the law also came from the FPÖ and Neos.
The anti-inflation measures for families were also approved on Wednesday. The FPÖ voted with the coalition parties for the package against child poverty. Affected households such as single parents, the unemployed and people with minimum pensions receive an additional 60 euros per child and month to help fight poverty. Child allowances for social welfare households had already been decided at the beginning of June, and the circle has now been expanded.
The new SP club leadership performed on Wednesday. “The SPÖ is to be expected again,” announced the acting SP club chairman Philip Kucher. He thanked the congratulations from the other clubs. He is proud to be able to work with the new team, he said. The former SP club chairwoman Pamela Rendi-Wagner received flowers and applause at the end.
