He Mayor of Canelones, Yamandú Orsi, assured that “It would be an honor” integrate a presidential formula with his pair of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse. to later clarify that this scenario excites him whether he wins or loses the inmate of the Broad Front (FA), that has them as contenders and, according to some leaders, as “the only natural candidates.”
“Being president or vice president of a country like Uruguay I don’t need to explain the honour, satisfaction and pride that it represents for someone like me, who comes from where I come from”, said Orsi, who has been gaining support within the FA, when responding to a press query, after a lunch work of the Association of Marketing Managers (ADM).
When praising Cosse, his eventual contender, he described as “an honor” the fact of “being able to accompany someone like Carolina, whom I have known for a long time because we have worked together.” Furthermore, he considered that possibility as “a very good opportunity to continue making this country a more beautiful country to live and enjoy”.
The mayor of Canelones was also asked if he would summon the Montevidean leader if he was the winner of the internship. “Of course, have no doubt”, he responded, giving rise to an eventual formula of the Broad Front.
In addition, during his participation in the meeting, he called for building a country with “considerably higher rates of economic growth” than the current ones and spoke of achieving “productivity improvements” to “consolidate an increasingly competitive position at a regional and international level”.
In this sense, he requested “that the fruits of the greater growth be distributed in a more equitable”, while he pronounced himself in favor of “incorporating Caring for the environment”, considering it a key to development.
The Broad Front leads the Multicolor Coalition in the polls
According to the latest survey of Opción Consultores, the FA made up of Orsi and Cosse gets a 3% advantage to the Multicolor Coalition, when evaluating the voting intention of Uruguayans in the face of next year’s general elections.
The Broad Front reaped 42% of the adhesions, against 30% who would vote for the National Party (PN), 4% for the Colorado Party (PC), another 4% for Cabildo Abierto (CA) and 1% for the Independent Party (PI), which would place the current government alliance at 39%, leaving behind other opposition forces such as the Intransigent Radical Ecologist Party (PERI), with 1%; and the sum of the rest of the parties (1%).
While, the undecided reached 11%; and those who will vote blank or nullify their suffrage represented 6%. According to the study, if the 11% that did not define who they will elect were projected, the situation could be reversed, since they calculate that the Multicolor Coalition would reap 45% of the votes, against 44% for the FA.
