It was Thursday around 6.25 a.m. when there was a head-on collision in the district of Mauernberg in the municipality of Altheim (Braunau district): A 61-year-old from the Ried district was traveling in the direction of Ried with his 21-year-old son. A 20-year-old from the Ried district was traveling in the opposite direction to Altheim, with his 17-year-old brother in the passenger seat.
For reasons that are not yet known, there was a head-on collision between the two cars. The force of the collision was so great that the 20-year-old’s car was thrown off the right side of the road, rolled over and landed on the roof. The 20-year-old was seriously injured and, after first aid by the emergency doctor, was flown to the Ried hospital in a rescue helicopter. His brother and the 61-year-old were taken to the Braunau hospital by the ambulance with minor injuries.
