Despite the ban on overtaking, a 28-year-old from the Rohrbach district wanted to overtake a truck driving in front of him in the Amesschlag area on Wednesday at around 7.15 a.m. He may have overlooked an oncoming 31-year-old driver from the Urfahr district. The 31-year-old tried to dodge – but this was no longer possible. The vehicles collided sideways. The collision was so violent that the left axles of both cars were torn out. The two drivers were injured to an undetermined degree and after the first aid by the emergency doctor they were taken to a hospital in Linz.
The Amesschlag and Vorderweißenbach fire brigades worked for more than two hours to remove the vehicles and clear the road again.
