After the unstable weather in spring this year, the wait for summer is finally over, according to forecasts by the meteorologists at Geosphere Austria: For the first time in 2023, the 30-degree mark of the thermometer could be reached every day from Sunday throughout Austria. Just in time for the start of summer next Wednesday, June 21, temperatures of around 33 degrees are possible. Only today, Friday and tomorrow could it be unstable again in Upper Austria.
In the course of this morning in particular, more clouds will gather after the initial sunshine, and rain showers and thunderstorms will gradually form from the early afternoon. The wind from west to north-west will freshen up at times briskly, the daily highs will reach up to 25 degrees today, Friday.
Summer weather on Sunday
A similar weather pattern prevails on Saturday. It’s already cloudy in places early in the morning, and rain showers or thunderstorms can form over the Alps, especially in the afternoon. Despite the sometimes brisk wind, the temperatures remain constant at 20 to 27 degrees.
But already on Sunday the summer weather can be clearly felt, which will set in at the beginning of the new week in Austria. In the course of the day, the temperatures climb up to 30 degrees, only occasionally there can still be rain showers in the mountains.
Partly violent thunderstorms
The sun dominates from morning to night on Monday, only a few patches of cloud can pass through during the day. The daily maximum temperatures reach 26 to 32 degrees. Cumulus clouds form with the summer temperatures, and the risk of thunderstorms increases significantly in the course of the afternoon. According to the Geosphere Austria forecast, sunshine will also prevail throughout Upper Austria on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the temperatures will rise rapidly and sharply. However, the danger of sometimes violent thunderstorm cells, which can form in the afternoon, increases again.
