The 35-year-old Benjamin Salhofer, master builder and owner of the company Hauszeichner, was nominated as the new mayoral candidate in the last parliamentary group meeting. The election will take place next fall. Salhofer has been active as a substitute municipal council for three years. “I will write a letter of introduction to all residents of St. Martin and look forward to the home visits,” says Salhofer. For local party leader Andreas Redhammer, Salhofer is a “real hope for the future”. According to Redhammer, the candidate “who carries St. Martin in his heart” will be given full support.
District party chairman Günther Lengauer: “I am convinced that he will exercise his office as mayor in an appreciative and independent manner.”
Who will compete against Salhofer is still open. According to OÖN information, an FPÖ candidate should be as good as certain. The name should be presented soon. According to OÖN information, the Greens, who got more than 14.5 percent in the local council elections and were thus ahead of the SPÖ, tend to put up a candidate. At the SPÖ, the decision will be made in the coming weeks.
