This is the result of a new generation study from March, in which a total of 1000 people were asked about living in the country and their willingness to do voluntary work. The study is the starting point of a campaign with which the Association of Municipalities wants to advertise more appreciation of honorary work and membership in voluntary organizations.

More than 3.7 million Austrians volunteer, twice as many as in the rest of the EU. According to researchers, the results of the study also show a tendency for young people to move to the countryside. The reason for this is the crisis experiences of recent years and the feeling that life in the cities is becoming less safe. The population is also increasingly conservative: young people also name family and nature as what is most important to them.
