“Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we’ve made together,” British media quoted Friday as saying in a joint statement from Spotify and Archewell Audio, the couple’s label.
This leaves twelve episodes of the “Archetypes” podcast broadcast, in which Meghan spoke to celebrities such as singer Mariah Carey, It-Girl Paris Hilton or tennis star Serena Williams about prejudice against women. The series won Best Podcast at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles in December 2022.
Too little productive
According to US media, however, the project did not meet Spotify’s productivity requirements. Therefore, the couple will not receive the full value of the contract, which is said to be worth almost 23 million euros.
Since stepping down from royal duties a good three years ago, Harry and Meghan have been trying to stand on their own two feet financially, signing several multi-million dollar deals to do so. These include a deal with the streaming service Netflix and a contract with the publisher Penguin Books, where Harry’s autobiography “Reserve” was published in January.
