The senator of the Cabildo Abierto considers the modification of the Nazi eagle into a dove of peace a “destruction”.

Faced with this, the reactions were diverse, among which are those of the Defense Minister Javier Garcia who considered that it is “a piece that represents the inhumane and the Nazi barbarism”. For his part, he history teacher Diego Delgrossi considered that the decision of Lacalle Pou “It is an anti-historical nonsense, not to say nonsense.” He pointed out that the eagle “is a historical piece, unique in its kind” and, against the accusations of its origin, he said: “It represents what it represents and must be preserved that way.”
Among the voices that were against and that resounded the most on the political scene was that of lobbyist senator Guido Manini Rios who announced yesterday on his social networks the creation of a bill that “prevents the destruction of the Graf Spee eagle , and the creation of a Commission made up of specialists to decide on their fate”.
“Cultural heritage must be taken care of and cannot be left at the mercy of the will of a hierarch,” remarked Manini Rios, who announced that the commission should be made up of members of the Heritage Commission, of the National Historical Museumof the University of the Republic and other institutions, together with representatives of the Executive and Legislative powers.
