The income tax return has already begun, until when can the Affidavit be submitted?

As of last Friday workers in a dependency relationship began to collect the return of the Personal Income Tax (IRPF), as reported by the General Tax Directorate (DGI) on its website, when presenting the calendar for this 2023.

The DGI also indicated that as of tuesday 27 will be available on online affidavit form with pre-loaded information on your 2022 activity. It is worth clarifying that automatic IRPF returns can be received through an assigned bank or in the collection networks enabled by Uruguay.

Since last Thursday, the possibility has been available for citizens to find out via the internet if they have any refunds to collect during the year, but also to check the amount and status of the refund. The possibility of evacuating doubts also includes options such as the DGI app and WhatsApp (098-134400).

As for the online Sworn Declaration form, which can be viewed from Tuesday 27 of this month, workers in a dependency relationship may confirm or modify the information, adding deductions, rental credits, correcting income or withholdings. In turn, independent workers will have to complete the income and verify payments and withholdings for their activity.

From the same June 27, the DGI will also provide telephone assistance to present the Affidavit via the web. Additionally, from July 3, it will provide personalized assistance, both for workers in a dependency relationship, as well as for retirees and pensioners.

How long can the Personal Income Tax Affidavit be submitted to the DGI?

The workers who have to submit the Affidavit are those who have more than one job with income above 840,345 nominal pesos between January and December 2022. In this case, the term runs from July 3 to August 28, according to the DGI expiration calendar for this year.

In this context, returns will be ordered according to the last digit of the identity card (CI), of the Single Tax Registry (RUT), or of foreign identity number. Thus, as reported, the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 will have their turn between July 3 and July 31 and those that end in 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, may do so from from August 1 to August 28.
