Competitions of joy in the SHS Kleinmünchen
At the “School Games” in Linz, everyone was a winner.

LINZ. The goal alone is worth every effort. The “School Games” are intended to teach children and young people with disabilities the joy of exercise and sport and inspire them to lead an active life in the long term. With the opportunity to compete in school competitions, they should have positive experiences in fair sporting competitions.

150 students from nine schools in the Linz educational region enjoyed this last week in the sports hall of the SHS Kleinmünchen. After the premiere four years ago, it was the second edition of the “School Days” in Linz organized by the Upper Austrian Disabled Sports Association (OÖBSV) together with the Upper Austrian Education Directorate.

The return after the pandemic was a complete success, and the participants clearly enjoyed the boccia, soccer and table tennis competitions. Next year, the “School Games” are to be extended to all of Upper Austria. That is the goal of OÖBSV state association secretary Dominik Harant. (rgr)
