“144 – We’ll help you” was the voice of 101 children and young people at this year’s Red Cross District Youth Day in Tragwein. At various stations, the young people were able to find out all kinds of things worth knowing about water treatment, the Red Cross market, mobile care and blood and its components. A special highlight was the visit of the search dog squadron. Here the young helpers got to know the fascinating work of the search dogs. In the afternoon, the participants had another opportunity to let off steam at the dodgeball tournament.
“Even at a young age, children can help other people. This willingness to do good is what unites all Red Cross youth children,” says district youth coordinator Magdalena Langer. “Regardless of whether they are six or 18 years old: the team spirit in the Red Cross Youth is incredible. This is the only way to plan such an eventful and fun day. Without the commitment of the group leaders, an event of this kind would not be possible.”
In the Freistadt district there are eight youth Red Cross groups in the local offices of Freistadt, Pregarten, Tragwein, Bad Zell, Königswiesen, Unterweißenbach, Liebenau and in St. Leonhard with a total of 170 children and young people. There is a lot to experience and discover together with the 44 specially trained supervisors.
