The 28-year-old centre-back, who has signed a two-year contract, last played on loan at Neuchatel Xamax. “Nikki Havenaar is a very experienced central defender who has a clear weapon with his size. He knows the 2nd division and will also play a central role as a leading player in our realignment,” explains SVR Sport Director Wolfgang Fiala.
“My big goal is to play in the top league. I’m convinced of the path that SV Guntamatic Ried is taking and that we can get promoted again this season. Now that I’m 28, I’m at a good age and I’ve gained a lot of experience in the 1st and 2nd leagues in Switzerland. I will give everything for the team. Because of my size, I’m obviously very dangerous at set pieces,” says Nikki Havenaar.
At 1.98 meters, the native of Japan will follow in similar footsteps: Havenaar is the replacement for defender Tin Plavotic, who will move to Wiener Austria.
