Cuba has vaccinated 7.3 million people with the three doses that comprise the complete scheme of Abdala and Soberana 02, two of the three vaccines developed on the island approved by the local regulatory authority and which are awaiting the recognition of the World Health Organization (WHO), the AFP agency said.

The “booster dose” would be the fourth and would apply to people more than five months after receiving the last dose.

For the booster dose Cuba will use Soberana Plus, also developed by national scientists.

Cuba reported 592 new cases of coronavirus and two deaths, a figure in decline in recent weeks, for a cumulative of 954,342 cases and 8,252 deaths in 21 months of the pandemic.

Several countries already apply a third “booster dose”, given that their schemes are for two applications.

At the end of September, Uruguay had vaccinated 24% of its population with a third dose, while Colombia announced in the same month that it will apply the third dose to older adults and health personnel, and Chile had applied it to 1.8 million people. persons.

The list of territories that apply this logic is made up of: Israel, China, Hungary, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Dominican Republic, Chile, Uruguay, Canada, United States and France.
