France extends the use of the health passport

“The health situation and its evolution in the coming months fully justify it”said Secretary of State Adrien Taquet on behalf of the executive before the vote, referring to a possible rebound in contagions by Covid-19.

The Senate and the opposition advocated extending the date until February 28, forcing the government to appear again before deputies and senators before the elections. Opposition parties have already filed an appeal before the Constitutional Council.

The health passport is mandatory since the boreal summer in places that host more than 50 people, as well as in bars, restaurants, hospitals (except emergencies) and large shopping centers. Its implementation has generated minority protests.

Citizens of France can obtain the document if they are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus or with a negative test. Since mid-October, this test is paid for those who are not inoculated.

Italy is another country than Europe that maintains the so-called green pass in force. In this case, employees must have this document compulsorily.

According to the law adopted by the Mario Draghi government, all workers who have not been vaccinated, except those who have had the disease recently, must present a negative test, paid for themselves, at the entrance of their workplaces. Otherwise, a fine of up to 1,500 euros ($ 1,700) applies.
