In this sense, Falero assured that, although the number of buses will be reduced that they circulate along the route where the train will be, that will not mean a threat to the jobs of these companies. The minister, in dialogue with the television program Arriba Gente, remarked that there will be “less buses in the most congested area”, which will mean a 50% reduction in travel time.

“I estimate that jobs will not be a problem. able to the task they do on a bus can be done in a terminalFalero said. “The totality (of the buses) is not eliminated, it is a percentage, it must be calculated and worked on,” he added.
On the other hand, he stressed that the system is intended to be complementary. “The combo can close if there is a will and we all collaborate. This is not part of an initiative of a politician or a candidate, it is the initiative of a private party”, remarked the hierarch.
Dispute over the management of the tram
The work of the fast train, which also confronts the government of Luis Lacalle Pou with the one of Caroline Cosse in Montevideo, arose from a private initiative presented by the companies Stadler Rail Valencia (Spanish), saceem and Stiler S.A..
Faced with this, the president of the Chamber of Transport of Uruguay (CTU) and the company Cutcsa, John Salgado asked that it is the current transport companies in the metropolitan area that should be in charge of operating the Montevideo-Canelones trainwhen the Ministry of Transport He did not rule out that the same construction companies could operate it.
In a meeting with the Secretary of the Presidency, Alvaro Delgado, Salgado remarked that “it was raised in the meeting with crystal clarity that We do not believe that there is another way to operate this train other than with traditional transport companies of Montevideo and the metropolitan area”.
Among the arguments that the president of Cutcsa gave so that the metropolitan transport companies keep the operation of the train-tram, is the fact that they have service experience. On the other hand, considered that the construction of a train-tram is not the only possible solution to improve metropolitan mobility.
