Yesterday, the responsible Transport Minister Günther Steinkellner (FP) presented the current study to the other parties in the Transport subcommittee, with the opposition in particular being opposed to the results.
As late as October 2022, Steinkellner is said to have spoken of “great demand”, said Green mobility spokeswoman Dagmar Engl. However, this “by no means corresponds to the facts”. The response is “an incredibly low eleven percent”. Participation is so low that the result cannot be “calculated down” to all communities. The Greens also criticize that the report is off schedule, because the results were originally announced for the end of spring 2023. The census was not in spring and is not now at the beginning of summer. Fall is the planned release date. That’s throwing the whole concept off schedule.
The two SPÖ committee members, traffic spokesman Tobias Höglinger and the third president of the state parliament, Peter Binder, find that neither a draft for the new overall strategy nor the result of the mobility survey was presented “more than unsatisfactory and incomprehensible”.
“More than enough”
When asked by OÖN, Steinkellner’s office admitted that the eleven percent return was significantly lower than in previous surveys. A problem would not arise from this. “We received around 31,000 replies,” says a spokesman. These would provide a “more than adequate database” for the creation of the overall traffic concept.
