Each and every one of these people is hope for a patient who urgently needs a matching donor with a high genetic match in order to survive. Unfortunately, the probability of being a suitable donor is relatively low, which is why it is all the more important to expand the database.
Reason enough for Vincent Reisner to set up such a typing campaign together with the student representatives of the secondary schools in Braunau (HTL, HLW, HAK and Gymnasium). The “Give for Life” association of Leukemia Aid Austria was also on board. “Because such a campaign is a great opportunity to make an incredibly important contribution to a very useful and also charitable cause in a very uncomplicated way, all the student representatives were immediately interested and motivated to do something in this direction,” says Reisner. The campaign, which was put into practice with a lot of volunteer help at the HTL Braunau, was very well received, and the organizers are satisfied and proud of the outcome.
