A crew of eight Danes was rescued after their sailboat collided with one or two Whales in it Pacific Oceanbetween Peru and French Polynesia, Danish authorities reported Thursday.
The Danish Rescue and Coordination Center (JRCC) had been contacted the day before by the relative of a young woman who was on the ship, and thus the miraculous rescue was achieved.
According to reports, the young woman was able to contact her father “from an Iridium satellite phone, where she indicated that the 51-foot (16-meter) sailboat capsized after a collision with one or two whales“.

The rescue that came just in time
The Ministry of Defense indicated that the eight crew members “were safe and sound in the rescue boat.”
After being welcomed by a fishing boat, the eight people were rescued by the container ship Mathilde Schulte, flying the flag of Singaporewhich was about 10 hours away from the crash site.
They are now heading to Papeete, in French Polynesia, the statement said.
According to the maritime surveillance site Vessel Finder, the container ship will arrive in port on June 26.
