Starting today, this year’s Festival of the Regions will be presenting equal rights, climate protection and other social issues under the motto “Highest Railway”. For ten days along the route of the Summerauerbahn, contemporary sprinklings will stir up the familiar.
The festival is dedicated to a different location every day on the basis of special days. After today’s opening trip with a special train to the Czech Republic, Freistadt in particular will be at the center of festival events at the weekend, including the occupying and renaming of the Böhmertor as “Frauentor” through the “Fraustadt Freistadt” initiative. In addition, a Frauengasse festival will be celebrated tomorrow from 7 p.m. at the gate. In the Stadtgraben, the “VegLab” invites you to get involved with sustainable food production, and there’s also a lot going on in the cinema.
Further focus days will follow in the coming week, culminating in the conclusion in Gallneukirchen on July 2nd. The program there also includes a feminist folk dance performance designed by Isa Schieche.
