eCommerce Day arrives in Ecuador, a market that does not stop growing

He eCommerce Day, which will have its edition in August in Uruguay, will be held between July 5 and 7 in Ecuador, with three days of workshops, training and awards, in the search to advance in the professionalization of a sector with great challenges in the region.

The most important event of internet business will thus add a new scale in its regional tour, which recently added a stopover in Peru. Organized by the eCommerce Institute Next to the Ecuadorian Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CECE) It will seek to become a space for networking and dissemination, promotion and reflection on the importance of the impact produced by new technologies in today’s society.

With a hybrid format, the highlight of eCommerce Day will take place on July 6, with conferences and plenary sessions to be held in person at the Quito Metropolitan Convention Center. In total, more than 30 digital business leaders will speak, with more than 10 workshops where the latest trends and case studies will be shared in Last Mile, Marketplace, Social Selling and Metaverso and Virtual Commerce.

Marcos Pueyrredon, President of the eCommerce Institute and CoFounder & Global Executive SVP of VTEX, highlighted the growth in digital sales in Ecuador, which ranked the country as “one of the five stars of the regional industry.” Regarding this growth, he highlighted: “They went from $2,350 million in transactions during 2020, to $4,000 million by the end of 2022.” For Pueyrredon, “a lot has to do with the professionalization of the offer made by local players.”

To its turn, Leonardo Ottati, President of CECE, highlighted that “the evident and constant professionalization of the offer, the support services, the speed of adoption of new trends and digital channels, the massive participation in the ecosystem of new verticals in the economy show that the permanent growth and maturity of digital supply and demand is permanent”.

“This keeps the Ecuadorian e-commerce ecosystem in the regional and global retina. They are all focused on improving the consumer experience and together, private companies and the government, build with the same goal: to create an ideal and safe environment for all industry participants”, he assessed.

The eCommerce Day had a successful passage through Paraguay

In Paraguay, more than 4,000 professionals were trained in digital business during the eCommerce Day, which was recently held, co-organized by the Paraguayan Chamber of Electronic Commerce. There, the general vision and opportunities presented by the sector in that country were analyzed, with presentations by Mauricio Larrosa, General Manager of CCR Paraguay; and Nanno Mulder, Head of ECLAC’s International Trade Unit.

The specialists highlighted that 78% of the population made an online purchase in the last 12 months and 3 out of 4 bet on online purchases in that country, while 65% compare prices. Among the platforms, Facebook and Instagram are the strongest, with 67% and 58%. In addition, 75% of Paraguayans use a digital means of payment.

“The growth of Paraguay’s digital ecosystem is amazing. From having a 100% offline industry, they went on to reach more than 15% penetration of the online channel, which translates into a 5% share of eCommerce billing,” said Pueyrredon. And he stressed that “the maturity of a very profitable local industry is being consolidated.”
