Six days after the gas explosion during a deep drilling in the Ansfelden district of Freindorf, the authorities began releasing the still closed houses on Monday morning. As of Monday morning, 15 houses with a total of 47 reported people were still closed due to gas levels being too high.
14 houses were finally released again during the day. Only the house where the explosion happened last Tuesday evening remained closed. However, the reason for this is not the gas pollution, as the Mayor of Ansfelden Christian Partoll (FP) reports in the OÖN interview: “The house remains closed by the authorities for static reasons due to the vibration and the fire.” Otherwise, no more gas was found in the measurements on Monday in the entire residential area.
probes will remain
According to the mayor, the equipment for closing the pipe, including the drill pipe, was also dismantled by the emergency services on Monday. Asfinag also took the wind machines for the turbulence of any escaping gas back with them.
What will remain is the pipe for the deep drilling, which is likely to have caused the explosion. Experts from OMV sealed the hole with a special cement mixture that hardens particularly quickly.
The large-area probes for measuring the current gas load will also remain. According to Partoll, these will continue to deliver data in the future, “although not at such close intervals”.
