Carlo Ancelotti was the preferred candidate for the highest coaching position in Brazilian football. As President Ednaldo Rodrigues explained, however, no contract has been signed yet, there is a verbal commitment.

The Italian will only take over in the summer of 2024. According to Rodrigues, the newly introduced coach Fernando Diniz should form the “transition to Ancelotti”. The 49-year-old recently won his first title with Fluminense. Accordingly, Diniz should remain Fluminense coach.

So Ancelotti will still coach Real Madrid next season. The 64-year-old is one of the most successful coaches in Europe. He was the only coach to win the championship in the five top leagues (Italy, England, France, Germany, Spain). Ancelotti won the Champions League four times.
