63% of Uruguayans disapprove of the management of Lacalle Pou in the face of the water crisis

Lack of works, climate change or a combination of both? Uruguayans are debating these days what is the cause of the unprecedented water emergency lives in the country and seeks those responsible for the lack of drinking water in Montevideo that, in a few days, he will even have drinkable water.

A survey carried out by Factum in this regard, and broadcast last night on VTV, showed that 41% of Uruguayans think that the water crisis is the responsibility of the government of Luis Lacalle Pou and of the previous managements.

31% hold the previous governments responsible for the Broad Front (FA) for not having built casupá dam or carried out other works, while 15% blame the current Executive for suspending the Casupá dam.

The weather conditions as the main reason for the crisis, they are the explanation for 11% of Uruguayans, who assure that the lack of water reserves is a phenomenon of nature.

The results of the survey also show a negative balance for the president regarding his management of the water crisis: 63% of those consulted had negative opinions.

34% consider that the performance is very bad and 29% that it is bad, totaling 63%. 27% rated the government’s response as good while only 3% consider that the performance is very good.

If these opinions are divided according to the vote in 2019, 89% of the voters of the Broad Front have a negative opinion; Meanwhile, of the coalition voters, 46% have a positive vision and 45% a negative vision of Lacalle Pou’s performance regarding water.

As often happens, the trends deepen depending on the type of voter who responds. Factum reported that among the Broad Front voters, 48% mainly place the responsibilities shared between the current government and the previous ones and only 10% blame the Frentamplista administrations. 33% believe that it is only the fault of the management of Luis Lacalle Pou.

On the other hand, the voters of the parties of the government coalition (National Party, Colorado Party, Open Cabildo and Independent Party), hold previous governments responsible for 52%, while 33% consider that responsibilities are distributed and hardly 4% consider that the responsibility lies with the current Executive.

Factum carried out the telephone survey from June 21 to 28 of 900 people residing in the country, aged 17 and over, in a position to vote in the next national elections.
