The new stadium of soccer promoted Blau-Weiss Linz officially opened its doors on Wednesday. The Hofmann-Personal-Stadion offers space for 5595 spectators.
The Mayor of Linz, Klaus Luger, is correspondingly pleased. “The stadium is not only valuable for Linz in terms of sport, with its location on the Danube and its spectacular construction it is also a unique gem and a new urban landmark for Linz,” the self-confessed blue and white fan is quoted as saying in a broadcast.
According to the mayor, never before have two new stadiums been built in a state capital in such a short time.

The placement on the roof of the XXXLutz furniture warehouse is not only revolutionary, but also offers visitors a corresponding panoramic view of the Danube.
“The screenplay could hardly have been written better: After winning the championship in a dramatic season finale, Blau-Weiss Linz rewarded themselves as Bundesliga promoters with a modern new stadium,” said Governor Thomas Stelzer. “I congratulate not only on the sporting success, but also to this architectural gem, which will act as a further strong stimulus for local football and the sporting region of Upper Austria far beyond the borders of the provincial capital. After all, I’m already looking forward to many exciting games, especially the Linz derbies.”
The opening game will take place on July 15 against PSV Eindhoven.
