On Tuesday afternoon, a drunken boat driver was reported who drove his e-boat too close to the bathers on the shore of Lake Traunsee. Officers from the Gmunden city police were able to stop the 59-year-old from Linz around 5 p.m. and noticed the smell of alcohol on him.
They then requested support from the Gmunden police. According to the police, the boat driver is said to have driven towards two swimming children, whom he only just missed because they swam away from him.
An alcohol test could not be carried out on the 59-year-old. However, a blood test and clinical examination in the hospital proved that the driver was impaired by alcohol. He is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels and the BH Gmunden.
